(Today's thankfulness challenge is quite special as it happens to fall on my son's birthday.)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUSTIN!
I'm thankful for my son Austin!
Nine years ago, I held this little guy in my arms for the first time,
and today we celebrate his 9th birthday.
Sam and I were married no less than a year when we found out we were going to have a baby. We were overjoyed to say the least! :) Doctors considered it a high risk pregnancy, so they spent the next several months poking and prodding me while dear friends and family prayed.
We were all pleasantly surprised when Austin arrived a month early weighing all but 5lbs. 8ozs. Our prayers for a safe pregnancy and delivery were answered, and aside from a bit of jaundice that kept Austin in the hospital a little bit longer, he was perfect.
Austin is such a precious gift to us, and we count it a privilege to be his parents. We thank God for blessing us so richly, and entrusting us to love and care for him. Life with Austin is full of love, laughter and adventure, and we couldn't be any more grateful.
We love him so much and are so thankful for:
- his sense of humor
- his tender heart of compassion and sensitivity toward others
- his keen sense of right and wrong
- his thoughtfulness
- his quirky and goofy personality
- his wit and creativity
- his sense of confidence and security that enables him to be comfortable in his own skin, and unafraid to be different from the norm
- his boundless energy and zest for life
- his innocence in a world where children grow up much too fast
What are you thankful for?
